I've been a little under the weather this week due to allergies and the cold weather. We're running about 10 degrees colder than usual. The forecasters are predicting a very cold snowy winter this year. There is much to do at the farm to prepare for this winter. The asparagus bed, new this year, needs to be winterized. You can see in the pictures below how it finally took off late in the year. And the potato patch that we plan for next year needs to be at least started. We'll also be expanding the garden so we need to prep those beds so they can overwinter under cardboard and a thick layer of straw.

And there is much to do this winter in order to prepare for the spring. The garden needs a bit of a redesign to make it easier to get around in. We need to pick a spot for our orchard and the grapes and berries. We hope to begin planting our fruit and nut trees & bushes in the spring. If it's not too snowy, maybe we can even move the chicken coop, too. But I'm getting ahead of myself again.
Back to the here and now. The laundry is mostly done, the dishwasher is running and I'm wondering what I will tackle next. Guess I'll tackle the paperwork next. Seems like there are always plenty of bills to pay, etc. There is so much to do and always so little time.
God is good. Blessing from our tiny farm.
